Positive Discipline Parenting Tool - Routine Chart/Poster de Rutinas

Who does not have a to do list to keep us on track? Well, children need something similar, too. Sometimes we struggle with our children to complete their jobs before a transition. Having a routine chart visible helps guide your child, develops time management, and supports independence. It is important that your children help in the creation of the chart. After you choose which transition is most difficult, here are the steps to follow through (Examples of difficult
transitions: bed time, clean up, eat breakfast, etc). .
  1. Make a list (Let your child tell you all the things that needs to get done, “¿Cuáles son las cosas que tienes que hacer para ... (limpiar el salón o ir a dormir)?
  2. Copy all items on the chart or take pictures of them doing each step (Ask children to choose what they want to do first and if it is applicable let it go, “¿Qué deberías hacer primero, segundo, luego...?).

Compliments and appreciation bring us closer together. These last several months have been challenging for families. There is a lot of stress between parents and children. But, do you know that giving and receiving compliments helps to decrease stressors and fosters a positive atmosphere? Here are some compliments in both Spanish and English. You can use them this week, taking the time to model and practice kindness, in Spanish. You can cut them and post them around the house to remind you to say a compliment.

“Agradezco que hayas puesto tus trastes en el fregadero” / "I appreciate how you put your dirty dishes in the sink“

"Me di cuenta cómo ayudaste amablemente a tu hermana con su tarea mientras yo estaba en una junta de trabajo” / “I noticed how kindly you helped your sister with her schoolwork while I was in a work meeting.”

    Pasitos School

Pasitos is an eco-friendly, bilingual community based on learning and fun. Through a play based Reggio inspired curriculum, children gain the necessary literacy skills to make them successful in both Spanish and English. At the same time, they build social and emotional skills in working with peers and the maestras. Together these skills help open their minds and language capabilities. Teachers interact with the children to build strong academics and positive social skills.
