About the teachers

Maestra Julieta- Operations & Enrollment Director
Julieta is a native Argentinean with a passion for "dulce de leche" (an Argentinean version of caramel but a lot better, according to her). She came to the Bay Area in 2005 to pursue her M.A. in Communications at San Jose State University. Since then, she has been working and volunteering in non-profits and corporations where her main role was to serve the Spanish speaking community. She strongly believes in bilingualism and speaks only Spanish to her daughters. She enjoyes traveling, dancing and trying new ethnic restaurants.

Maestra Lorena- Programs Director
Lorena started at Pasitos in 2009 and comes to us with experience in education and business, and is excited to continue her preschool teaching career with us. Graduating cum laude with a degree in Business Administration from the University of Miami, she studied International Finance and Marketing. She also studied at the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City, MX for a semester. Lorena served as the Academics Manager for an educational center for two years in Cupertino, CA. After completing her coursework in Child Development from Foothill College, she currently possess her Site Supervisor Child Development Permit. Her twin boys joined us at Pasitos West and are now at a Dual Immersion Elementary School. When not working with Pasitos, she can be found playing with her boys or escaping to the movies, and spending time with her husband.

Maestra Gloria is originally from Los Angeles but has lived in Northern California since attending California State University, Chico. Gloria received her Bachelor's Degree in Child Development with a minor in Health and Wellness. During her time at Chico State Gloria began working with and teaching children in early infancy, preschool, and young adolescence. Her most challenging teaching experience was working with at-risk teens and low-income families at the Paradise Teen Ridge Center. She has a strong passion for helping children and their families throughout life. Gloria is a firm believer in relationships and their ability to create strong connections with children. Her family is both from Fresnillo, Zacatecas and Cosala, Sinaloa, Mexico. She was raised in a bilingual home and continued taking courses in Spanish throughout high school. In her free time (if any), Gloria can be found at Tjmaxx buying candles, baking her famous “flan” dessert, or hiking! Her favorite place to travel recently was Tulum and Cozumel, Mexico!

Maestra Monica- On Site Education Coach, Pasitos Central
Maestra Monica was born and raised in Guadalajara, Mexico and she moved to the United States when she was 21 years old. She graduated from San Jose State University with a BA in Child and Adolescent Development. Monica began her career working and volunteering in agencies that support low income families, such as Head Start and Catholic Charities. Through these experiences, she found her passion for working with children. She is a strong believer that children need to be in contact with Mother Earth, through gardening, hiking, feeding animals, and taking care of our environment. Maestra Monica loves to spend her time with her husband and her two beautiful daughters. They enjoy eating ice cream, going to the park, and watching movies with popcorn. Her hobbies are reading, yoga, and watching historical movies.

Maestra Alma

Maestra Pamela - Preschool Teacher, Pasitos Central

Maestra Brenda- Preschool Teacher, Pasitos Central
Maestra Brenda has been with Pasitos since January 2014.She has enjoyed working in all the different programs over the years. She graduated from SJSU with a BA in Child and Adolescent Development in May 2019 and has enjoyed her first year as head teacher in Pasitos Central G2 Classroom. Brenda grew up in a bilingual (English and Spanish) home, but did not learn to speak English until Kindergarten. She has two brothers and two sisters who she considers her best friends. When she is not working, Brenda enjoys spending time with her siblings and nieces/nephews, cooking foods from different cultures, and hiking.

Maestra Leydi was born in Mexico City and at the age of 8 years old, she relocated to the United States. She recently graduated from San Jose State University. In her first year of college, she realized that she wanted to become a teacher. During her college career, she worked with children of all ages. Through these experiences, she came to the conclusion that working with younger children was her passion. In her free time, she can be found exercising, hiking, and looking for a new book at Barnes and Nobles. Leydi also loves exploring different cities and looking for new vegan restaurants.

Maestra Estefany - Preschool Teacher, Pasitos Central
Maestra Estefany was born and raised in Tegucigalpa, Honduras and she just recently moved to the United States in 2016. She graduated from Universidad Tecnologica Centroamericana with a BS in Tourism and Hospitality Management. Estefany used to be a business owner but always thought teaching might be something she wanted to do. She was given an opportunity to work at a bilingual school in 2012 and it turned out to be the best decision of her life. Not only did she find her passion but she also found her husband. Maestra Estefany is currently studying Early Childhood Education at San Jose City College. When she is not working or studying, Estefany enjoys spending time with her husband, being outdoors and traveling the world.

Maestra Ana- Interim Site Supervisor, Pasitos West
Maestra Ana was born and raised in San Jose. Her first language was Spanish (her parents are both from Durango, Mexico) and learned English when she started Kindergarten. She recently graduated from Mission College and has transferred to San Jose State to major in Early Childhood Education. Maestra Conchi was born in Mexico. She graduated from the Universidad Pedagogia Nacional with a BA in Children and Adolescents in Indigenous Communities. She furthered her education by obtaining her Master's in Pedagogy of Social Subjects and Community Development and Basic Education. She hopes to return to school to obtain a M.A degree focusing on education. She loves to interact and connect with all children and help them learn in anyway she can! Daisy is grateful in being bilingual because she will be able to contribute bilingualism with the children from Pasitos School. During her free time she enjoys being with her family, going to the movies, and traveling.

Marlen is from Salinas, California and moved to San Jose in 2015 to begin her college journey. She is about to graduate and has started her career at Pasitos. Marlen wants to give the gift of being bilingual to future generations, which is why her major is Spanish in preparation for teaching. She plans to continue her education after graduating in order to obtain a M.A. degree in education. On her free time, she enjoys reading, listening to music and going to the beach. Besides education, Marlen hopes to one day explore her passion for music.

She is currently a student and activist of Early Childhood Development, specifically children, women, and families. She enjoys spending time teaching and learning new ways to help teach young children. She is proud to be bilingual and a teacher, and hopes to teach young children the beauty of learning a new language. She loves connecting and being able to support all children, families, and the community. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, volunteering at Sacred Heart Community Center, and exploring the outdoors.

Maestra Stephanie is originally from King City, CA and has just transferred over to San Jose State University where she is majoring in Child and Adolescent Development. She enjoys going to the beach and spending time with her little brother. She hopes to teach Kindergarten in the future.

Maestra Andrea- School Age Teacher, Pasitos Central
Maestra Andrea became part of the Pasitos family in August of 2020. She was born in San Jose and moved to Mexico in 2012. She was raised in both countries and will always have them in her heart. She recently moved back to the United States, where she will pursue her career in Intercultural studies in De Anza College . She attended the Benemérita Universidad Autonoma De México where she studied a major in child education for 2 years. She found out that her passion was for teaching when she was very young and thought out to seek a change for the children of the future. When she is not teaching she loves to do various activities like dance folklore, paint, and play many sports.

During her free time she enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband as well as taking road trips and exploring new environments.

Maestra Tami- Owner/Curriculum Director
A strong believer in bilingual education and bilingualism for all, Tami has been in bilingual education for well over a decade. She believes that all children can and should have access to learn through different languages, not just learn different languages. Beginning as a middle school English and Social Studies teacher, she has worked with students of all ages, from preschool to adult with a focus on bilingual education. After graduating from Carleton College in Northfield, MN, Tami received her Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from National Hispanic University. Tami continued her education at San Jose State University and received an MA in Child and Adolescent Development, with an emphasis on bilingual education. Personal interests include hiking, camping, and a general love for the outdoors. With her family, she is attempting to make a difference in the environment by buying and eating local and organic foods as much as possible.

Having received her BCLAD teaching credential from National Hispanic University, she began her teaching career as a bilingual kindergarten teacher. Unsuccessful in finding the perfect preschool that would give her daughters the pre-reading skills they needed to be successful in English and also learn Spanish, Stephanie and Tami opened Pasitos in her home and later moved it to their current locations. Stephanie has earned her MA in Education from San Jose State University, has her Administrative credential, and is truly a reflective and engaging teacher leader. She loves to run, bird watch, hike, and spend time with her family.
