Parent Support
We encourage and invite parent participation in our school! We believe that strong parent participation is a vital part of our school community. Parents are asked to join us and speak, play, and interact with us in the target language.
Service Learning Projects
We are always looking and considering new ideas to involve the children in supporting our larger community. We have engaged in activities such as collecting coins to donate and support a local organization to collecting food and toys for those in need.
Healthy Living/Environmental Awareness
“Reduzca, reusa, recicla!” We live and teach ideas about taking care of our local and global environments. We serve all organic snacks and encourage reuse and recycling of food containers.
Getting Ready for Kindergarten
How can you learn more about the schools that your child will attend after Pasitos? Similar to when you chose a preschool, a visit to the school, talking with teachers and principals and current parents help you to make a more informed decision. You can also check out DataQuest which provides demographic and achievement information about California schools.
Does your child have a birthday between August-November? Are you trying to decide to keep your child in preschool for another year or to send him/her to kinder? Be sure to talk to your child’s teacher as a first step. Click here for information.
How can you be sure that your child will be ready for kindergarten? Discuss the skills your child is working on, in preparation for kindergarten, with your child’s teacher. These skills include academic preparation (able to write own name, counting, recognizing letters, etc.) as well as self-regulation (paying attention, following directions, controlling impulses), social expression (engaging in symbolic play, expressing curiosity for learning, relating appropriately to adults), and self-care and motor skills (able to use small manipulatives, able to perform basic self-help/self-care tasks).
