Job Descriptions
Teacher Positions
Teachers are the life blood of our organization. It is with their professionalism, experience, and expertise that we, as a school, are able to make such a positive impact in the lives of the children with whom we work and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Create and maintain a safe and caring learning environment
• Work with other teachers on team to plan curriculum and changes to the environment
• Continually assess children through observation and make constant decisions regarding their physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs
• Communicate with parents on a daily basis and participate in conferences as necessary
• Contribute to monthly newsletter
• Greet children and parents daily at drop off and inspect for illness
• Maintain lesson plan records available for review by Site Supervisor
• Maintain injury log and notify parents as necessary
• Maintain visual supervision of children at all times
• Attend staff meetings and staff development
• Maintain teacher child ratio of 1:6 at most times, 1:12 at all times
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary
Head Teachers (School Age/Preschool)
Assume responsibility of the Site Supervisor in event of their absence and help to facilitate discussions between the teachers and the Site Supervisors or Owners, when necessary.
Minimum qualifications
• 12 ECE Units
• 6 months experience in preschool or comparable child care setting
• Bilingual: English/Spanish
Preferred qualifications
• Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, Child Development Teacher Permit, or Child Development Master Teacher Permit
• BA or BS (foreign transcripts accepted)
• 2 years teaching experience
Special skills needed to perform the job
• Knowledge and understanding of Developmentally Appropriate Practices
• Knowledge and understanding of language acquisition
• Excellent communication skills
In Addition
Teachers will complete 15 hours of health and safety training within 30 days of hire and submit verification to Site Supervisor.
Assistant Teachers (School Age/Preschool)
Duties and responsibilities
• Assist in the creating and maintaining a safe and caring learning environment
• Work with supervising teacher to plan curriculum and make changes to the environment as necessary
• Participate in regularly held staff meetings and collaboration time with other teachers
• Contribute to monthly newsletter
• Maintain visual supervision of children at all times
• Attend staff meetings and staff development
• Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as necessary

• 6 ECE Units (may be waived with significant experience)
• 6 months experience in preschool or comparable child care setting
