Our summer program follows our regular school year schedule with a few exceptions:
- Family Picnic Days - once a week families are invited to either stay later for pick-up or take their lunch hour from work with us and enjoy a picnic lunch outside.
- Mud Play - twice a week we flood a dirt area to play in the mud. This is a gross motor sensory experience. Children have the opportunity to mix, form, build, jump, spread, dig, etc. with the guidance and support of teachers who are getting dirty, too!
- Extended Outside Playtime - more than just “free play” our outside time includes lots of options ranging from structured games such as “Duck duck, goose” or “Víbora de la mar” to picking/eating/maintaining our garden to adding water to the sandbox.
- Set Curriculum- based on what we have observed during the last months of the school year, the teachers plan the curriculum and activities for the summer session. We return with our emergent curriculum in the Fall!
- Water Play - both indoors and out. We allow children to enjoy this sensory experience of splashing, pouring, draining, and swooshing. We also have a sprinkler to help us water the children and the grass.
